no...good bokeh is usually in glass construction. good glass (that's why expensive lenses usually have good bokeh) usually gives you some silky smooth bokeh which is very pleasing, instead of something that just goes "BAM, i'm out of focus." there's a bunch of old lenses that gives awesome bokeh. and btw, bokeh is a japanese word.

this is from the lens that i consider to have the best bokeh out of my lenses.
Which lens did you use on this image? It looks to me like the aperture on this lens is fairly small (not wide open). Maybe around the range of f/4-5.6 or so?

that was shot from a Zeiss ZF 85/1.4. i want to say i shot it wide open because it was pretty dark, but i can't confirm since it's film. i don't think it was 4 and beyond, since i'm a wide open *****...i know i know, i get yelled at all the time, "the sharpest point of most lenses are from f/4.0 to f/8.

And it's noisy, and the build quality feels like it fell out a Christmas *******, too. But still a bit of a bargain.

that would be the lens. thanks for the comments, i had trouble making the decision since a brand new AF nikkor 85/1.4 was only a couple bucks more than a MF 85/1.4. when i got the lens in my hands and shot the first roll, i never looked back and couldn't be any more satisfy.

here's the camera and lens:
