I have multiple fire arms scattered across the country; never know where you're gonna be when the balloon goes up.
We are prepared and can accept many more that are willing to help/participate.
BTW, just before Y2K, I had many Mormon neighbors. They asked me what my family had to "prepare".
I told living next to Mormons was good enough for me.
One of the moms said if I approached her house, she'd shoot me dead.
I responded, smiling, with "what makes you so certain I won't kill your entire family to feed mine?"

let me give you a little senerio that can, and did play out during Katrina.
8.3 Earthquake hits the bay area, cuts off water and food to 70% of the people in the area. It is going to take 3-5 days for groups like FEMA to get fresh water production up and running strong. By day 2, people are going to be in fight or flight mode, you WILL have looting and worse.

Perhaps we should put together a gathering, over here at my place. I can BBQ, and help all the people who don't have a basic BOB to build one for themselves.

I've always carryed a hunting knife, extra water bottle and wind up flashlight in the car. Maybe I'll nab one of my brother's MRE's and cram it in the spare tire area. I never thought of extra clothing, aside from the random jacket in the trunk.

The extra clothing comes in handy. I have had times when I was out, and needed to change (one time slipped in some mud) and it was nice to have clean clothing.
Yes, please! The only reason I haven't freaked out too much about not having a kit is because my parents have one and I live within walking distance of their place... But I'm moving across the country so I really should put one together and I'm just not sure what to include. Great idea
