There is a glitch in their system if you tell them you are being shipped off for military reasons and call back the next day saying never-mind you are staying after all. The cycle needs to complete 24 hours before calling back saying you are staying. Once the cycle is done, re-activate it will show you are off contract.

for big red its 375 then deduct 10 for every month you have been on.

it worked for me. I was originally paying 215 a month. Had 2 lines and a tablet. When the contract ended for the tablet, I called VZ, told them I want to end it. The CSR said you sure you don't want to stay on we can give you lower rate? I told them no thanks, so the CSR said we will put you on military leave so whenever you are ready you can re-activate it. Told my wife what happened and she said just cancel it. So I called back the next day, canceled the line. A few days later I notice my account reads off contract. I called to confirm when my contract date is over, the CSR said I'm out of contract.
