I just read a few articles talking about CHP ramping up forces specifically to target cell phone users... that's an expense right there. More officers on duty and likely more on OVERTIME. And more hires.

I also read that there's no difference between talking on your phone with your hand to using a hands free device and both are quoted in a couple studies as being as likely to cause an accident as driving drunk.

Sounds terrible but when you think of how many more people drive on their phones to how many drive drunk its not as bad as it sounds. I'm sure it causes about as many accidents per year as people doing say.. their make up, reading, drinking a cup of coffee, etc. Pretty soon its gonna be illegal to drink coffee in the car because you might burn yourself and cause an accident.
