While im out on the freeway i sometimes think about this...
If im driving around 50 mph in 5th gear and i want to accelerate to 80, i can either stay in 5th and dip into the throttle a little more, or down shift into 4th and use a little less throttle than i would have to use if i stayed in 5th. my question is... which method uses more gas? giving the car more throttle in 5th or down shifting and using a little less in 4th? kinda random thought.

 

5th really lugs your car.

I'd downshift to 2nd.

 

While driving I think about why the DMV is stupid enough to let old people drive...

When I drive, I think about spectacular accidents that I could cause on 280 with just the right PIT maneuver.

 

Just make sure I'm not in 280 N or S when you think about that

A good rule of thumb is less RPM = better mileage.

 

while I'm driving I'm thinking how much debt this car has caused me, but I love it...the car, not the debt.

BTW, I downshift to 4th b/c I've been told its stressful on the engine in 5th.

I think about way to dang much.

Much of the time I think about the DMV driving test. How the hell some people pass that test is beyond me. I think about it being stricter..much more so. Merging skills are sorely lacking. And I think about what it would be like to drive with people that cared about the world outside their glass panels.

I think about what would happen if i just smashed into the back of that bastard that just cut me off.

Sometimes I think about the beautiful sunrise and the feeling of the road I'm driving on. The joy I am blessed with being able to hit corners..feel power and listen to music of my choice and that I don't have to worry about being blown up while I eat this taco I am driving to go buy.
