Need Suggestions For The Location Of The Next "Hammy" Meet...
+1 treasure island. it's isolated and nicely centered on the bay. i've been there a few times for large events. it's kinda deserted place.
laguna seca is just too far out of the way, especially for folks not interested (heresy!) in track stuff

Pro: T-hill will be cheaper than Laguna Seca to rent for the day, although both venues are expensive for Saturdays and Sundays during the good weather months. Both tracks are closer to BAIC than Buttonwillow Raceway, but the turnout there was still very good when i-Club staged that event a while back.
Con: A track event will cost more than a simple BBQ meet for those who actually want to drive but that would be a separate cost from the food tickets.
I also like the Presidio or Treasure Island locations but have no idea how parking or activities would work out. Both locations are easy to get to although weekend traffic in the City and on the Bay Bridge might catch non-Bay Area residents off-guard.
Big parking lots that hold regular autocross events would also work, but many lack green areas for picnicking.

That may be true.... but with 300+ cars.... we would only need to have 30+ people to actually track their car in order to make up the track portion of the even right?

alameda air base or treasure island are good as they are both still in the bay area unlike laguna seca because this is a BAIC event so should be in the bay area. daniel you just need to start a poll thread with these locations so that way everyone only votes once and just see which one wins.
locations in poll:
Presidio
Alameda Air Base
Treasure Island
Laguna Seca
Lafayette Reservoir
Combine it with Subydude's Thunderhill Track
Vasona Lake Park in Los Gatos
thats pretty much all the ideas.
my vote is the alameda air base overall just because traffic would be horrible on treasure island and parking too. i went to treasure for fourth of july and trying to leave there almost ruined the whole day because of traffic plus police presence is usually around pretty strong. alameda air base ftw! with better parking and traffic flow.

So I'd be going for T-Hill, T-Island, or Presidio... (No Seca for me!)

I'd be leaning towards Alameda NAS or TI too, I remember the guy from Subaru West saying they'd like to have an autocross go along with it, I'd think either of those venues probably have good facilities for that- if not right where we'd be- at least nearby.
4th of July traffic is a total CF everywhere, but especially TI, with proper directions and stuff I'd think TI traffic on a "normal day" wouldn't be too bad, but then again a couple hundred subies presents its own challenges as far as arriving and departing- as long as not everyone tried to get there at the same time it could be a lot better than your July 4th experience was.
We'd probably totally overrun Lafayette Res or the Presidio.
And I'd decline on Thunderhill, hell we had a hard time getting 30 cars out there for a Rallycross, how many do you think would make that drive for a BBQ/meet?

eveevryone post up a map of places you've suggested, that way we can see approximate parking/vendor/food/auto-x space
Daniel, how much parking space was there at hammy?

I've hosted a couple of meets at Lagoon Valley Park/Pena Adobe between Vacaville and Fairfield. It has a huge parking lot (bigger than Hammy), acres of green, BBQ facilities, and a small lake. The nice thing is that it is central for everyone (1 hour from Sac, 1 hour from the South Bay, and <1 hour from the North Bay). It's right off I-80.
This is one of the few places I can think of that can support the kind of vehicular turn-out you're going to get. The Park Presidio option also sounds nice.
