a motorsports event is DEFINITELY NOT NECESSARY...

Mt. Hammy was not a driving event, & YET STILL 3 years straight one MORON EVERY year couldnt figure that out & had to crash... which more or less led to us being booted from Mt. Hammy to begin with.

Glorified UCKK it may be, but at least no one crashes regularly on the way there. Hangin with BAIC regardless of "the drive" is the point & safely is better than an opportunity for some *** to prove he's a "mad tight dRifteR yo!"

That's why an Autocross would be really nice, a chance for the hot shoes to show their stuff in a controlled environment, something others can watch, and besides, the dudes from Subaru Western Region wanted to do it.

If we wind up at Alameda or the Presidio, which seem like the 2 strongest candidates, doing this would add a driving element that we lose by not having the meet at the mountain.

So while I agree that a motorsports event is not necessary, it would provide something to do besides waiting in line for hot dogs

Anyone bring up kelley park in san jo? They do hot rod shows there. It's central and it'll take the cars.

On a side note...I think a group should be formed and this meet of ours should be taken to the next level. More mags. More give aways. Vendors step up. An autoX...a bigger show that's voted on by attendees...more organization..etc.

there are a number of spots that could be used. Get a few down...contact them. Lay out the plus/minus chart and run with it.

do we have a volunteer?

I'd offer to step up but I'm pretty overbooked for next year as it is with Rallies in Mexico, Palmdale, Arizona, and Idaho.

But I will help if I can...

Daniel,
We currently have hosted the Porsche Club of America for a similar event. In order to do what you have requested, you will need to contact the City of Alameda Planning Department and apply for a Use Permit to use Taxiway "H" at Alameda Point for your event. Once you have a Use Permit, then you can contact me to set up a date for your event. The daily rate for the space is $2,000 per day. A license agreement will be required, which we will prepare once we know the dates of the event. The insurance requirements consist of $3,000,000 in General Liability and $5,000,000 in Automobile coverage.

Please feel free to contact me in the future is you have any questions.

Happy Holidays!

Mike Hampen

That was in regards to the Alameda airstrip.

I agree with the suggestion about a board of some sort to aid in the planning and orginization. There seems to be a lot of pontential that falls through the cracks.

Yeah, I can't do it all by myself. It's far too big and crazy.

So let’s roll with it. Daniel, if you could put up a planning committee volunteer request post so we can get the committee established and begin to designate responsibility, chores tasks.ect. It should take some of the weight off of your shoulders, and bring some good ideas to the table. It'd be nice to have a place to caucus outside the public domain, as well. Input and suggestions are always appreciated but sometimes the jarbble cause loss of focus on the task at hand.

Volunteers don't need permission as far I'm concerned. This is a club not the gestapo. I would imagine that eventually there will be enough volunteers for the committee to do it's job. Daniel is the boss here he's done it before, it has gotten so big he's going to need the help.

so if u guys are going to do the Presidio, the only problem u will have is that u will have to bring your own bbq grill. There really isn't a bbq grill (that I know of) at that big parking lot area.
