Nope, going on a hand guard. I always thought it was a little weird they made them plastic, but all of their stuff is injection molded I guess.

A 9.2" one I got from Amazon. It's the only made in China part on this thing - no US companies that I am aware of make one this length with the same vent configuration. I specifically wanted one that it is not vented the whole length considering it is a pistol. Link is

.

Also, magpul just started making a metal version of the MBUS. I may switch at some point - I have a few sets of the plastic ones on various builds, so it could turn expensive.

Did not know that. Thanks. Will look for those instead.

I can confidently recommend this one. It has the same mounting system as the YHM hand guards and went together nicely. Good fit and finish, and the price was right. Keep in mind you can't use the magpul hand guard in a free float configuration without significant mods to it.

That's a picture of me. My buddy took the picture.

I'm just an 0311 not a Recon Marine. We used CIRAS kits for a while, then switched to plate carriers. I have the MICH because...I found it sitting at one of the ranges we went to. It was left by somebody from another unit I assume. I don't tactically acquire gear from my own Marines.

Right on. You got lucky with the gear. The MICH is much better than the issued LWH. The helmet cover makes it blend in nicely. It's hard to tell at first glance, I'm sure the SNCO's in your unit didn't even notice you wearing it.
