finally USAA came through for me and without hassle on my last 2 fender benders that weren't my fault. Im just waiting to become an experienced CA driver once again
. Because of me having a NC license for awhile with a clean record i lost my entire CA record from before and have to build it up again.
CA laws blow
But USAA has my vote
Anyway, if i were you i'd get a beater car at first and learn to play with it...your time will come for a better car. If your parents are cool then just put the car in their name and pay them monthly.

yeah, the only way you're gonna be able to get a ballpark figure even is to get a hold of an agent. one problem is that you're probably not going to be able to take out your own policy if you live at home if you're still considered a dependent by your parents because they are still your guardians if they are your main source of income. the other bad news is that if you do find a way to take out your own policy, there is no way you can be an occasional driver. from what i remember of my insurance classes, you can only be an occasional driver if there are more drivers in your household than there are cars, in which case you'd have to make one of your parents the primary driver on an STi.

It's already apparent what a big difference in premiums paid from households with a married couple, homeowners, with more than one car on a policy. These factors may be almost as important as choice of insurance company.

The other factors can make a big difference.

My wife and I are in our mid 30s with a clean driving record. We had 21st Century for a long time.
When we bought our new 04 WRX Sedan they wanted $4k a year. I told them they are smoking crack!
I went online and got a quote from Geiko and Progresive. (Note: Geiko is on of Warren Buffet's insurance companies).
For the standard 100/50k for both collision and comprehensive (no fault) and uninsured motorist. Along with roadside assistance.
They both came in at about $1300 a year.
I would recommend shopping at Progresive or Geiko. They can give you a quote over the phone. Progresive will give you quotes from 3 of their competitors too.
All State, State Farm, and the other old school insurance companies charge higher rates.
