Are you planning on getting it under your parents? I'm guessing it would fall near 3k for you. You're young, have a short insurance and driving history, and you're being quoted in the Bay Area.

$13,000/year for a '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee, '03 S2000, and '03 WRX Sedan... Thanks to my 2 point (misdemeanor) racing ticket in April '03. Oh yeah and I did say $13,000. That was not a typo. But since it is that high, I am dropping and have to find some high risk... Damn, all this for just a 2nd-4th gear race...

Welcome to the wonderful world of performance cars.

When I first got my WRX I paid just over $1200/year. After two years of just moderate rate increases it stood at about $1400/year. Then six months ago it jumped to $2460/year and I have not had a single citation or accident since 1987!. I just sat down with my insurance agent yesterday and he wrote me a different single-car policy for $1536/year.

Shop around. Just because joe-so-and-so found a good rate for his Supra doesn't mean that his insurance company will have the best rate for an STi.

Also consider getting enough liability coverage to hopefully protect yourself from loss of assets.

I pay a little over $1700 a year with a low deductible of $250 and $100K/$300K coverage amount.

I'm in my low 30s, 5-yr good clean record, multicar discount, professional association discount, etc.

I use Geico because they got probably the best customer service and it's 24/7 for anything, not just for claims. I really like this because I have no time to call from 9-5. Other companies may be a little bit cheaper but customer service (and hours) sucks.

your best choice, is to call up your insurance company or any insurance that you are interested in, get your parent's drivers license and have them run a quote. Although i can almost assure u that at age 18 (less than 3 years driving experience) you're probbaly looking at at LEAST 3g's a year.

If you want to save on time and money you can call my insurance agent, Ray Blackwell. He's in Hayward off of Foothill Ave. and he deals with over 20 different insurance companies. If you give him your information he can run a quote from all of his carriers and give you the best price (Geico, Progressive, Mercury, 21st Century are all included). He's pleasant and professional, will be open on the weekends by appointment. His number is 510.886.1610 if you're interested.

*I know at your age, you most likely don't have a house but he also offer's cheaper rates if you purchase your home owners, or life insurance policies with him.
