I would give up 1hp simply for the sound. ELH stis sound like garbage

+1hp at peak, but I wonder what the rest of the power curve looks like. It could have significant gains in the mid range. I bet alot of Subaru techs are pissed about this though.

They didnt oil the o-ring when installing the new filter. The rubber o-ring has melted to the block and filter..... Just apply liberal amounts of 45apc from the corect applicator. That should solve the problem.

That was a looooong drive home.

We basically did the method that ucsbsti suggested... Put heavy oil into it and just drive... because the car doesn't store oil in the oil pan when the motor is on... oil is in the engine/etc....

Only lost about a quart of oil driving to San Ramon from Tahoe.

boy that sure was a long drive home... i remember it took me 3 car washes to get all that bunt/leaking oil off my windshield.

that was a fun trip tho, we need to do it again

Well when you do get it off, would your friend be interested in upgrading to a different system rather than using the traditional oil filter?

I know there is another one with a drain nut on its own and it has a stepped surface so you can also use a 21mm socket to undo the casing.

im still confused, why is this subarus fault? the cheap *** oil change in 5 minutes shop is the one that made it impossible to get off.
it is a bad design, but -1 to taking it to a "save me money" type of shop.

Because if they hadnt designed it the way they did, we would have been able to get it off!!! Thats why!
