FMIC's are perfectly legal. I think Chris found it stated in a handbook that they are legal as long as the car originally had an intercooler. WRX's come stock with an intercooler so adding a fmic is okay.

yea, too bad you can't run a stock airbox with a FMIC, its not hte IC thats the illegal part, its the intake you have to run.

You can be like chris and get a small *** carb legal intake though

Let's keep it all friendly, folks. We are all just trying to answer SuzWRX's question to the best of our knowledge. I understand that others may not agree with me - that's okay, because I may very well be completely wrong. I hope that it is perfectly legal to run any FM or TM intercooler because I hope to upgrade someday myself.

please post a link/article or something/amything that proves it... it should be easy to find lots of info on it since its common sense...

btw, why don't you believe any of the 4 or 5 people that have had direct or very close contact to direct experiences with the situation? A COP told me my FMIC was legal and he had just taken a course on whats legal and whats not. Anothre guy passed a Smog Ref visit with a FMIC. What DIRECT evidence do you have of it bein illegal?
