I know this is probably a stupid ? but I will ask it anyways. Are FMIC's illegal?? Or are they only illegal if you have to modify the bumper supports..?

Almost anything you do to squeeze some more hp from the engine is illegal these days.

I don't think so... Just a CAI on a N/A is illegal. And the CAI is BEFORE the filter. So pretty much just replacing the 'pipes'. I recently went to a smog check and asked about it. Sucks, i know...

Incorrect... they are 100% legal <--- I know for a fact!

I got pulled over a few weeks ago for speeding, but because my car has "a little bit" of work done to it, they decided to have me pop my hood and check out the inside...

Well i've got SR50, DR725 FMIC, Perrin Big MAF Intake etc. etc.

I told him that the FMIC was legal, and both officers agreed, and told me that if I had changed the position of the throttle body or changed the BOV that that would have made it illegal...

in a nut shell, if you keep the stock throttle body location and stock BOV, you can do anything you want to the intercooler as long as you don't change the way it works (air to air etc.)...

So how do you use the stock BOV with a FMIC? The BOV location changes....and the recirc. hose wont reach the new location of the BOV.

EDIT: unless you went and made a new recirc. hose that was long enough.
