Really glad to hear you two came out so well, Subaru survivability comes through yet again!
As for the $hithead drunk driver, I hope the long arm of the law comes down on them real hard, some people deserve the maximum sentence and I'd say this is one for sure.
Philosophical aside...."deserving to die" ?
someone said nobody deserves to die, but in the big picture, (as Jim Morrison once said-) no one here gets out alive- so in a sense we all do since we'll get it in the end.
Somebody ought to carpool you two to Mt Hami. though, just 'cause you can't drive doesn't mean you can't roast in the sun

Here's some damage done by a drunk driver running a red light. I walked away completely unharmed, my dad had a sore shoulder (was sitting in the front passenger seat), my mom had severe seatbelt bruising (was sitting on the passenger side rear seat). Glad you both made it out alive.

Glad to hear you both are OK. Hearing what happened was like a scene from a movie. Anyways, wish you both a speedy recovery. I should be swinging by later tonight with the others. See you then!

I hope you have a full and speedy recovery, get well soon!
I remember when I was a teen punk my old man ragging on me all the time about being out late. His favorite saying was "nothing good happens after midnight". What's funny, now that I'm an old man too, is I have a good lifetime of seeing bad **** happen after midnight. I still have a lot of young 20's friends and 90% of the time the bad happens -yes you guessed it. And even old I can hardly get to sleep before midnight. But I ain't out.

Thank God you're both okay. My thoughts and prayers go out to you for a speedy recovery. Another STi has done its job in saving its occupants (a story with which I too am familar).

HOLY CRAP! I'm late to this thread, but let me say that I'm so thankful that you and Bryan are alive to tell this tale!
Un-friggin-believable! So he was in an SUV?
Man, I usually have sympathy for people that make mistakes, but mistakes like this... not a single ounce of sympathy for him. He deserves everything that is coming to him.
You guys BETTER NOT settle with what his insurance gives you... Milk that isht till the cows come home. What you suffered through was not something that just medical bills being paid for will cover... If you need advice with this, I can help. I was in an accident a while back and it jacked my back up. I didn't start seeing the full effect of my injury till about 6 months later.
Godspeed to you both.

Oh, I forgot to mention the whole Subaru safety thing!
I've sold so many subarus to my family and friends just because of the stories I tell them about how safe these damn cars are. Over the past 7+ years, I've seen some pretty horrific accidents, the worst being AwdDan's (AKA Dan_E)... The injuries are never worse than something like a broken arm or something. When I get married, I'm going to make my soon to be wife get a forester, or a tribeca... She's not exactly the best driver and is prone to accidents. Right now she's driving a Ford Exploder... I pray every time she gets on the road.

Forester after sacrificing its own life to keep its grateful owner safe:

Note the entire passenger cabin from the intact windshield to the C-pillar is completely safe.
CN: I try to correct but it was too late. I felt the car begin to tilt and I just relaxed b/c I knew when the car flips you don't want to tense up. The car caught and flipped 3-4 times.
This from one grateful Forester owner.

I for one hope the injured guy lives. I hope he fully recovers to serve his full sentence. And after he is done serving time hopefully he has a life change from his near death experience and all the bro rape in prison.
I am glad the people he hit are ok but you guys are brutal hoping he dies.
