I heard the amazing story today, and Im glad you and Brian made it out alive! Fortunately, the Sti chassis was designed to withstand some serious damage and keep occupants alive.

I have been hearing about too many serious car accidents lately. Its especially unnerving that my sister was one car length away from being involved in a deadly crash:
http://www.nbc11.com/news/13760718/detail.html

She was driving directly behind the gray mazda 626 when it happened and saw the other car explode! Too crazy

I am glad your ok and I hope that guy that hit you burns for it. I am tired of drunk drivers causing accidents and getting slaps on the wrist. They need to lose there license for good and take public transportation for the rest of there lives. If they have a problem with that, they should not have drank before driving.

Yea, we were very lucky to have walked away from this with much bruising and whatnot... If my wife had gone straight or punched it we would have been crushed by the airborne Ford Excursion, glad she braked hard and we were just hit in her front left quarter panel and thrown into a tree from the Ford when it lost control going about 90mph..

damn that will probably be a total loss. Glad you two are OK. I keep telling my fiance that accident avoidance is the reason I need to get brembos on my car since I am commuting now daily from san jose to san mateo.

This scares me enough I think I just might go buy brembos. :|

from that pic alone, I'd highly doubt it's a total loss. I'd need to see the other side by the passenger side door to see if it's tweaked or not

but seeing how the grill pieces and all that are still intact with how easily they can pop out. I am betting it's no where near a total loss. It takes a pretty good accident to total a 30k car

posting from phone heh so I can type..
So far without taking car apart they said its up to $16,000 damage not a whole lot looks wrong on passenger side but the rear of car at trunk was shoved about half an inch. and passenger brembos are tweaked and because tree branches were pulled up in the wheel well they are scratched up. I guess under side of car got rashed don't know all of what I just asked about my exhaust heh and that's toasted I guess. I had to kick the drivers side door open then fire dept ripped it back to the fender so that's as far as it shuts heh. They did tell me that if I were in my honda we would more than likely been killed so glad I was in the sti.

So far we are banged up pretty bad and bryan is mostly bruised and pulled muscles so he is really sore. His shoulder is also really sore it seperated when we hit. He also passed out for a short time. I took most of the hit cus well u see.. my airbag also popped so I hit the wheel really hard and may have hit the windshield so I am bruised badly several places torn muscle tissue ligaments and tendons in right shoulder, head/neck/shoulder injury. and I guess my kidneys got damaged cus they are bleeding some. I find out in a couple days what they are going to do about that and in 2 weeks what they will do about shoulder.

All in all we lived and that's all that matters THANK GOD!!! cars can be replaced...
