My wife and I bought our place almost 3 years ago. We found a BW on the fence in the backyard with a huge web the day we moved in.

That's also the day we called an exterminator. Since then we've only seen one. And they've always been on the outside of the house.

Yea, black widows are very native here. Thankfully if you read through that link I posted they mention that widow deaths are almost non-existent now due to anti-venom and everything available at the hospitals.

Only babies and old folks really need to be super afraid of getting bit by them.

There are at least 6 black widows in the garage at my apartment. I don't mess with them and they don't mess with me.

I have a ton in my backyard. Honestly they dont bother anyone so we let them be. The dog(s) never had an issue either. The ones in the garage though get swatted on sight. I dont play that ****. Dont need to get bit when taking the garbage out.

Had a friend get bit by a Brown Recluse a few years ago.

Long story short, she had to have both of her hips replaced

Yea they are no joke. Had a friend get bit by one on the arm about 2 years ago and is still going through the final bits of skin grafts and reconstructive surgery. Lost almost his entire forearm flesh/skin.

Yeah f those things. Isn't there one town that has like 9 deaths a year or some crap because of them... I think it's where they got the idea for the movie.

We're starting to get brown widows in the U.S. screw those things.

Yeah my house... I was tearing down and old wooden shelf thing under my over hang. Busted it down and I kid you not THOUSANDS of widows came flying out. I ran like hell. Had the house treated not long after. Haven't had too many at the house until recently. Spot on in the basement every time I go in there.

But this was at the new house. We'll have it sprayed before we move in for sure. All the construction sending things everywhere.

I live in the country. We have huge spiders, gigantic raccoons, HUGE bats and even bigger owls. Mating cats, wild pigs, dear, and automatic weapon firing mexicans.

Spiders are pretty low on my list of concerns. Well.... little higher now.

Not sure in the context of what Ray was speaking of.

Male black widows are brown with white stripes and immature female black widows share the same coloring until they mature and turn black.
