No, I don't.
And when I go to my house in SF, I bring more than one.

People like guys are hilarious, & living in fear*. Come stay in the hood for a while, it'll toughen you up.

*exceptions of course are for ex-military...most of the time.

My mom has a Remington 870 for home defense, and she loads hers a little different -

1st round - non-lethal rubber slug
2nd and subsequent rounds - VERY LETHAL solid copper slugs

My mom was in the military ( well, my whole family is still ) and I have no idea where she gets her ammo loadout. Last night, she was talking about subsonic rounds , and I left the room. The less I know....

My father taught me a similar method of home defense - load up duck shot in the first chamber (that way even if you get startled and unload, the damage will be kept minimal or conversely it works very well as a way to warn a potential thief that you mean business).

If someone doesn't get the picture after a face full of duck shot and still comes after you - unload the Buck 1 and deal with the cleanup.

Idvinag: Are you sure? I was under the impression that this shotgun was CA legal (but I am a newb at CA vs. Federal gun laws).

CA weird gun laws > feds...

1. PROHIBITED FIREARMS, AMMUNITION, AND RELATED DEVICES

A short-barreled shotgun means a firearm designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell that
has a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length or an overall length of less than 26 inches; any
weapon made from a shotgun which meets the barrel length or overall length criteria; any device
which may be restored to fire a fixed shotgun shell and which meets the barrel length or overall
length criteria; or any part or combination of parts designed and intended to convert a device into
a short-barreled shotgun or which would permit an individual to readily assemble a short-barreled
shotgun. (Penal Code § 12020(c)(1).)

actually, if the bad guy/girl doesnt get the picture when you tell them to stop and that you have a firearm, 3 rounds of buck should stop them.

again, you never shoot a person to "maim" them. thats for the movies and tv.

you shoot to STOP THE THREAT. whether that is a single 9mm round or 100 5.56. doesnt matter. you shoot to stop threat. period.

That's the lovely thing of a pump 12 ga shotgun; the sound of chambering a round is universally understood by criminals as "I'm ****ed."

What kinda threat is stopped by a single 9mm round?!
