The person you were agreeing with is one of the biggest gun advocates here, his post that you quoted as total sarcasm and he baited you just perfectly.

I have a Benelli with a short tactical barrel and an extra barrel for skeet on a rare weekend. Semi-auto 12Ga is something else.

Ummm, so you're saying we should all rely on the government for our self-defense needs? F that. If someone threatens my life in my home I'll defend my life. I respect the police and their role in society, but where in the world is the average response time "seconds"??? A quick Google search shows national results ranging from 7-8 minutes. A lot can happen while you're waiting that long.

I will quote the movie "thank you for smoking" right now.

Can you blame the auto industry when someone drinks and drives?

Go back to HippyLand USA mate.

the idea of a gun for home defence....it's one of them ****ed up situations that society shouldn't put you in, but it does. yeah if there is an attacker in your house, then sure shoot them. but at the same time it's a horrible idea to take a life regardless of what the other person is trying to do. who am i/they/we to end a life? (don't get me wrong now, if someone does something bad, they should be punished... but if everyone respects each other then that would be so awesome, but thats such a pipe dream...) i guess it's that cold idea of kill or be killed that bothers me.

i'm saying this single and without a family, but if i had someone to protect i know my ideas would change and i would have less trouble pulling the trigger.

hehe i guess i have a love hate relationship with guns. i love how they work, the mechanical aspects of it. i love how they look, love the history and respect what they can do. a rifle being able to hit a target from a 8000 yards, that just blows my mind (no pun intend, lol). but i hate what some of them guns are made for.

i love them more then i hate them, but it's funny when i talk about guns to people and they give me a crazy look like i'm boarder line crazy.

hehe, i might sound like a hippy wishing for peace, but i'm in the middle. i'm not anti guns and i'm not super pro guns. i understand why they are needed. i'm not anti because i believe that it's just a tool, guns are not the problem, it's what some people do with them that's the problem. and i'm not super pro guns, we can live with out them (but that will suck soo much....)

in a perfect world. yes.

but dont forget, using deadly force is the LAST RESORT.

do not underestimate the whimpiness of criminals. you can read numerous reports of criminals stopping their activities when confronted by the home owner with a firearm. without shooting a single round!

what? your life aint worth protecting?

actually all guns do one and one thing only.

and just like someone have said before, they are nothing but tools. by themselves, they do nothing.

it's the human that uses them illegally you should hate...
