bart officer kills guy in sf oh great
Everyone here are arguing bad arguments. You pull a weapon on an officer and 20ft away that to me is pretty sufficient enough to kill him... COULD he have tazered him? Maybe, but the circumstances has too many what ifs. The dude was on drugs/alcohol maybe even PCP. He might not have reacted as a sober person would to a shock. Safety first. Cop did the correct thing

Yet again reading this thread reminds me that Iclub is full of gun toting people ready for armageddon or zombies.
Why even arm officers with tasers if you're just going to pull a gun?
As to the topic starter, I dont see any rioting happening unless the victim was black. If that sounds racist, so be it.

It was interesting watching someone just suggest that guns shouldnt be in the hands of every cop (like in Europe) before everyone came out guns blazing trying to protect the second amendment and calling him a dirty birkenstock wearing berkley hippie.

Sorry to dissapoint some people's suggestions and comments, but this comes down to decision making. In the end the LEO thought his or another person's life was in danger and met all the requirements of such, this in itself justifies use of deadly force and is defendable in a court of law as such.
As far as the tazer comments, two possible explanations for this, first the LEO might not have recieved the training and quals to carry a tazer. Also a tazer is less than lethal, a man with a knife wanting to kill and on drugs is not less than lethal, making the gun the proper choice and the tazer the incorrect choice.
Sorry psoper, but as one who has been to numerous countries where LEO's cannot carry a firearm, they are definately not safer. These are the countries where you hide everything in your hotel room, and travel in groups of at least 3 because the criminals can get whatever they want out of you and the LEO's have nothing to back them up.

Well in other countries with gunless officers have something called a community. Something America does not have. In America, something happens in public.. For example; an assault on an innocent woman. Most people will turn their heads like nothing is happening.
If they are doing such a bad job, why don't you become a police officer and try and make a decision like that?

either way bart police obviously cant handle the responsibility of a gun. they should only be allowed tazers then **** like this wouldnt happen. but if someone was coming at me with a weapon and had intent to do harm to me or others and i had a gun and a tazer, i would shoot him with the gun.

b) You ding the LEO, (with your obvious vast weapons training and experience beyond that of bart police) even though you would have used a gun rather than a tazer. You **** on your neighbor and tell him its rain?

Its pretty obvious that Bart police needs to train with Steven Seagal.
@dub So you're saying the next big earthquake will cause California to turn on anarchy mode? I beg to differ. If other states can handle it, so can we.
The whole armageddon hype is just an excuse to collect/hoard guns. I can protect myself with a knife. I've watched plenty of Rambo.
