Dirtbag's family speaks!
You're right, he's not a monster.
He's a dead pile of **** that will never commit another crime and it's unfortunate that it took this long and four heros had to die in order to kill him.
"He's not a monster," said his sister, 24-year-old Enjoli Mixon, whose apartment on 74th Avenue was where Mixon was slain in a gun battle with police that left two Oakland SWAT officers dead. "I don't want people to think he's a monster. He's just not. He's just not."

The gunman, Lovelle Mixon, 27, was also killed. He was wanted on a no-bail warrant for violating his parole on a conviction of assault with deadly weapon.

Although I'll admit, it must be hard to say that one of your loved ones is a pile of ****.

I wasn't too shocked that his family would not think he was a monster. After all it is his family and they lost him; and yes I know its his fault based on his actions.
I am sure this story will get very interesting as things are released to the public, including everyone's account on what happened.
Did you see all the people chanting and basically saying these cops deserved what they got?
Just another testament of how Oakland is at the moment. Its obvious to me that this is not the majority of Oakland's community, however its still a large amount who are upset with recent/past events with OPD and other organizations. Its upsetting to hear the negativity but there must be something to calm both sides of the fence and ultimately regain some respect. I hope with the recent deaths and situations that some GOOD does come out of this.
There will be a vigil this Tuesday at 6pm that I will be going to.

Well its mob mentality when it comes to these things. You live in a community where people have had some bad run ins with the police. Some people feel certain past events were police brutality and then you get the neighborhood pissed off at every person in a uniform. Mix that with paranoid people who think getting pulled over means an *** beating or being shot/tased and improperly treated; you get a cluster **** of emotions and it goes on both sides (Cops/Community).
And yes you are right. The same people who curse the cops find themselves praising them when they need their help.
It's ****ed up on all ends.

Was watching the news this morning. They said the 4th police officer is officially brain dead. His family is keeping him on life support and are deciding if they want to donate his organs. =(

Well then, I guess this makes everything about square from the New Years killing of Oscar Grant by OPD (apropo of none of the other shenanigans).
Let's hope the good citizens of the bay area think so too, when Johannes Mehserle goes to trial.

Damn flatline. I'm glad you're o.k. This is a terrible time for law enforcement in a lot of places. Cuts to staff. Increase in violent crimes. Etc.
Did swat breach or regular PD? Was wondering about flash bangs or any kind of breach techniques. The news made it sound like the busted the door down and ran in but that doesn't sound right. I heard the guy just posted up on the opposite wall and it was pretty much a suicide assault. Friggin sucks. I can't imagine how the families must feel and his friends and fellow officers.
Stay safe out there.
My brother in law is fresno P.D. they had a couple officers a few years back that got set up. Fake call. Guy waited for them on a balcony and opened up with an AR.
These people don't deserve to live.

P.S. - On yahoo news, cnn, and the AP...barely any mention if any about this story. Sad to say but, to the rest of the world, tragedies like this seem to fall under 'business as usual' in Oakland.

Grant wasn't shot by OPD. He was shot by BART PD. Also, when an autopsy was done on Grant, a baggie of crack was found in his ***.
That baggie that was on his *** has nothing to do with him being shot save your time....Lets be straight here..He was shot by a bart officer and thats the fact. Like the four cops were shot by this piece of S**t......Dont make it seem like the crack had anything to do with this... Its a real ****en sad story. Ive gone to funerals of family/friends who have past away and its always overwhelming..always....now imagine 4 families..Man this is wrong and my heart goes out to all these families, sons and wifes!!!
