Things hit on this thread that have been discussed in many other threads...and yet the argument continues:

-Gun Laws
-Why pot should be legal
-Why pot is not legal but other drugs are
-How bad/good cops are
-Why most of us avoid oakland like the plague
-The odor of a rotting body <--- this one is new maybe

I when these threads turn into gun law vs legal pot smoking cuz the same people argue the same things over and over again

by the time the first 2 breached, the bad guy would have ample time to fire off lots of rounds.

it if were actually a 4 man team, i am surprised, VERY SURPRISED, there aint 2 additional deaths...

with a ballistic shield that can withstand a .308 round, it's too bad one was wasnt used... ... IF OPD has 'em...
I'm sure OPD will learn a lot from the AAR's after this incident. But I don't think a ballistic shield would've done much good in that situation. Seeing as how they were already in a choke point, the shield would've just slowed them down even more. Plus the guy holding it, can only use his pistol to engage.

Maybe Flatline knows OPD's SOP on this, but for an active shooter barricaded inside a building would they launch CS gas inside first before banging and clearing? Gassing the apartment first, might have made a difference.

the other thing mentioned on that ch5 piece, was that the apartment was the first one in the building.

dont think they had enough time to clear out the people in the other apartments.

i think, that's why OPD went in faster than they normally would...

A parolee with an "extensive criminal history" who killed four Oakland police officers had been linked by DNA evidence the day before the shootings to the rape of a 12-year-old girl, according to Oakland Police.

Anything dude that rapes a gurl IS in fact a monster, and SHOULD be executed on site.

There could be a reason for murder, or manslaughter, etc. if someone broke into my house and tried to hurt someone. I might kill someone yea. There is absolutely zero excuse for a male to rape a female. That is absolutely NO manhood at all, and anyone who does such a thing should have their ***** and ***** eviscerated after torching them with a flame thrower. I can't believe his parents don't believe he's a monster the way media thinks he isn't. That is a MONSTER who should have been Kill On Sight.

The girl was raped on Feb. 5 in the 2800 block of 73rd Avenue, just blocks away from where the officers' shootings occured Saturday, Sgt. Kevin Wiley said.

Police believe Lovelle Mixon grabbed the girl off the street at 7:30 a.m., threatened her with a gun and then put a bag over her head. She was sexually assaulted after being dragged into a secluded area between homes, police said.

Residents in the area said kids routinely walk to school along that stretch of 73rd Ave., making the girl an easy target for someone like Mixon.

What sick **** this guy was!

I'm not trained on swat techniques so I can't comment.

As for active shooter situations we are trained to nuetralize the threat as quickly as possible weather it be shooting them or taking them into custody peacefully

We shouldn't be Monday morning quarterbacking this incident. The first shooting was a tragedy plain and simple. The swat members were both highly decorated trained professionals. They made a tactical decision and the coward inside started shooting through the walls.

Sgt Romans and sgt Sakai were so squared away it's ridiculous. Heck I named my son roman after sgt Romans because he was such a huge influence on me.

I am SWAT certified.

1. CS gas would be perfect for the situation. But as far as the intel that was received, there was no guarantee that there was no innocent bystanders in the building.

2. There was no intel as far as where exactly he was in the building as well. Knowing that information would definitely de-escalated the situation, with speed, surprise & violence of action.

U know...I want to make a Comment on Oaklands Mayor, Ron Dellum (sp?). This is just my opinion, but I think that guy is the biggest IDIOT alive!..

He has no control over that City and its residents!...Oakland and Richmond should have more laws that should mandate a NO FIREARM policy to anyone that is not law enforcement. I know my Comment is not thinking outside the box...but for ALL of us that live in Cali, we ALL know Oakland and Richmond has never been the safest place for a countless number of years!!..

Ron Dellum has continued to "pretend" his city is "working" on problems, but for a fact he has not done a DAMN thing!!...Seeing him on TV and his Copy and Paste speeches make me wanna vomit!

<------Lives in Richmond, has had people gunned down not 50 feet from my house ,while I was home! Yet I'm still not afraid to walk the streets, because I'm not the kinda person to make themselves a 'statistic'.

Look, we already have laws on the books that say no automatic assault rifles (ak47's included, right?), and that you need to have a permit for your gun, even if you have the constitutional right to bear arms, etc. BUT as we know, there's a gray and or black (not even talking about race so don't try it) market for a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g.

Wait....you actually SAW Ron Dellums? That man is more ellusive than Dick Cheney. He only works about 20-28 hours a week.
