All I'm saying is your reasoning is horrible.
Wow, you're quick at getting defensive. I included that information to show you that I know what it's like to have to stop every block because there's stop signs. And good for you for being broke, maybe not having a $300+ electricity bill would help

I remember our very first Mt Hamilton meet in July of 2000 we were all driving down the mountain from the observatory and came upon that narrow bridge at the small fire station... We had a line of about 30 cars split into 3 groups but the gaps were only about 20 seconds or so...
Anyway, when my group got to the bridge there was a biker guy riding THE WRONG WAY on the road going towards the observatory (we were going away) and as I drive past him (VERY SLOW) I notice he has some sort of skinny aluminum pole sticking out the side of his frame that he taped onto this bike... It stuck out a good 2 feet and jad a jagged end. I didn't know what the purpose of this metal stick/pole was until I saw him scrape the entire side of the car that was behind me with it!
I slam on my brakes along with everyone else and run after that bastard... We managed to stop and surround him. It was a man in his mid to late 40s on a road bike with a REALLY bad attitude. At first we were just confused and thought maybe it was an accident but as we talked to him we found out that he attaches that thing to his bike for that very reason... He says that it keeps the cars away from him... Not only did he scrape someones subie but he was riding the wrong way on the road, none of this would have happened if he stayed on his side! He tried to ride off and escape but we weren't having it... We forced him off his bike and literally THREW his bike into a pretty deep creek bed that had water flowing in it too... I know it caused some damage because it fell about 15-20 feet into rocks and shallow water. Since there is no cell phone reception up there AT ALL, not for another 10 miles of twisties at least, there wasn't anything he could do.
Oh, and for those of you who go to Mt Hamilton you'd know that the place is NOTORIOUS for its poison oak, especially in creek beds... The area were his bike laid was COVERED in poison oak. HAHAHA!
Damn we were pissed off but he got a taste of his own medicine... f'ing bastard.

So guys, lets all have a "Don't stop at stop signs" meet sometime soon! We can all caravan in large groups and run signs because it's really fun! What do you say?

Also when the Mtn roadies are yelling at you to slow down as you pass, i guess they dont realize that you have to speed up in order to not hit oncoming traffic around that blind corner. Sorry but im not gonna pass you at 23 mph lol
LOL i cheer for them too, theres nothing more exciting than seeing one of those hardcore bike messengers weaving thru traffic without a glitch in the whole system, i skate behind them in SF and follow their every move sometimes haha.
As far as saving gas, i see myself eating more or buying drinks after a long ride, so the $30/gal starbucks isnt helping my wallet much
i wasnt offended, i just didnt know what the hell you were talking about or why
But when some road biker is waiting to turn left at light, 1st in line in front of cars, and he says some smart *** thing as i fly past him bunny hopping over the median and get ahead oh him, it pisses me off, like i feel like saying mind your own F n business...just because he's jealous i'm getting ahead of.
Its ok, I dont get it, i DO deserve thar prize
So, using your argument, I want better gas mileage because gas is more expensive now. So to keep momentum and save the extra gas it takes to get back to speed, I can coast through?
I only say this, because I used to bike 30+ miles a day over summer, and I'd always stop at stop signs. Yes, it takes energy, but you're riding a bike, what did you expect when you got on?
Wimpreza - I see your point, and you're basically saying bikers don't give a rat's *** about how they're causing more traffic for all the cars they just cut through, only to make matters worse for everyone else but themselves. Yeah, I hate bikers like those as well.
kylemtncruzr - While I see your point of doing it at 2am, where it won't cause any more traffic for other people, it's like comparing apples to oranges. By not obeying basic traffic laws, they're causing more traffic by making cars wait for them, and screwing over the entire purpose of traffic lights. Also, your whole thing about speeding, unless you get into an accident, usually speeding doesn't cause a crap load more traffic behind you as well. As for flying through lights at 2AM where there's no traffic, by all means do so. If I saw you doing that, as I dreadfully wait at the red light, I'd be cheering for you, haha.

for those of you who got offended by this thread:
im talking mainly to those bikers as i discribed this morning. 9am not 2am. and biker that does not stop for signs, nor lights. a biker that just wouldn't stop for anything. crossing BIG intersections. Grand Ave and harrison. etc..by lake merrit. if you are that type of biker then yes this thread is talking about you.
if you ride bike at 2am and run lights and signs. all im saying is that is not right, but hey! its reasonable. people don't have to follow rules when don't need to.
make it clear.
bikers. ride safe, have respect for cars. if you want to share the roads, then follow the rules.
sorry for those who got offended. but you would be pissed off when you see those bikers going through lights and cars.

haha i hate bikers who take the whole lane...yeah you can, but why be a dick to the cars behind you, just pull over a little more so that the car doesnt have to go in the other lane to pass....ive been flipped off by bikers that ive passed by going into the other lanes...some just think that they are so cool and take up way more space than needed...
reminds me of the people on 17 who drive 40 in the left lane while not passing anyone, and then honk at me when i pass on the right...
ive almost hit so many bikers in sf who just speed through intersections coming down hill...to be honest...i wouldnt feel bad about them gettin hit...HA actually reminds me...in sf on oak street going towards the 80 on octavia a few months back, this chick on a bike was going through the lanes going likie 15 because she was in front of me taking up the whole lane and i was riding my brakes... and then ran a red light at laguna, got through the intersection, trying to pass people waitin at the next light to turn right towards 80. while she blew threw the red a car made a left off laguna onto oak and she went right into his car...she flipped over the car...but i laughed when i saw it because when she cut me off going down the hill by buchanan, i was like "wtf this b**** deserves to be hit for weaving through oak street traffic at 4pm" and a few moments later shes on the floor like "oh what happened"
call me a d*** but really...bikes think they have toooo much right of way sometimes...shoot i stop at interesections on my skateboard and wait...

this morning i was going to work. a group of bikers about 10 to 15 people. they were in a 2 roll line. sometime they were wide on to the car lane. but when they can they get closer to the side. at stop lights, they stopped and everyone just waited there, and no one try to run a light. those are some good bikers.
