I'd love to serve in some way locally, but I'd probably be given laughing gas at the recruiter and wake up in Iraq. What a freaking nightmare.

Well this begs the questions will a draft be put into affect? No, I'm not saying this as a "scare" tactic. Im really intrested in what the solutions will be? What can we, the US Army, do about this?

I doubt there would be a draft. I think we have enough troops as it is, but I wouldn't be surprised if the media exploited this possibility to no end.

While I agree a draft is unlikely, our armed forces are not holding up to well in Iraq right now. If I understood the article Hella posted correctly the guy believes their is a problem with lack of troops. So what is the solution to that besides the draft?

I think it is just saying that there is a lack of troops in Iraq, not necessarily in the Armed Forces. I belive we have enough guys in uniform... but more isn't a bad thing. I think slightly better pay would help increas recruiting.

I thought what the article was stating was that to many of our men and woman are doing to many tours of duty in a row? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think even Salty stated the same? Salty any ideas? Or was the article Hella posted out of wack?
