Question Hey Sisqocqk! Army ? for you:

Hey dude, what's up?

I know that you were in the Army for a few years (couldn't have been too many, as you are a young buck) and that you were a Ranger or something right?

As you know, I took the AFAST. Well, I did "very well"(138) according to the Warrant Officer Recruiter in FT. Knox KY.

As a Ranger, you spent alot of time in Blackhawks right?

How would you rate the life of a 153A (Warrant Rotary Winged Aviator)? I am taking the physical mid-month down at Ft. Irwin.

I have been told by many pilots in the Army that UH-60's are where "it's at" as opposed to AH-64's.

Give me your advice G.I. Joe!

Thanks man, I am really looking forward to doing this, but I don't want to get into a ****ty position. It is a huge opprotunity for me (Not too much of a pay raise, but I have always wanted to fly). Or is it just glorified by the films and the news?

Hook a brutha up man! Thanks!

Andy

Awesome...congrats! soon you'll be untouchable... you'll be one that salutes 06's if you feel like it. j/k. you'll be a WO. woohoo

I have never been in a AH-64 (obviously... because it's hard to jump and fastrope out of them with the canopy)

But have been in a number of blackhawks and (ahem sh*thooks) and loved them. blackhawks f**king rocked. loved the ride and the crews were awesome too. We used to scare the crewchief a few times when we air assaulted and exited the helicopter on the wrong side when the bird wasn't very level. almost got turned to hamburger.

here's what you have to think about....

1)where would you want to be stationed. do your homework. Ft.cambell has more ah-64 units w/101st... but Ft.bragg doesn't w/82nd aviation, instead they have more Blackhawks. so look it up

2) think long term. i know of a lot more pilots that made it to 160th SOAR w/CAG that came from Alaska (for those of you that don't know what CAG is maybe 1SOFD Delta Force sounds better for you video game people). Why? because most of the air-assault missions weren't canceled do to weather because the weather was always poor at times. they learned to fly in tough condtions all the time. You'll notice in other posts that if a pilot feels a drop of rain or see's his shadow the air-assault mission will get SCRATCHED!!! i used to do LRSD missions with CAG and we used to watch the pilots show off. all i can say is WOW. be prepared to pick up a dime off the dirt with you rotor with a blindfold around your head. seriously those guys are no joke. the pilots in the movie Blackhawk Down were from 160th Soar BTW.

3)Do you want to be a fighter/support-transport/or recon like the comanche and kaiwa?

I say go with the blackhawk. You'll have a great time.

Once again Congrats, thanks for serving! pm me if you need more input.

Thanks, sounds awesome. Every Warrant that I have talked to seems hella cool. We really don't have cool cats like that in the Navy. We are kind of like the AF. Hella **** and shiz, and I don't like it.

Thanks so much for the info. You are about the only one that I knew to ask. All the Army recruiters around here don't know shiz! They are all like Admin pukes and Spooks!

Thanks again, I may hit you up later on more info. I am not really looking forward to spending 45 weeks at Ft. Rucker! I am a Cali boy!

You're army right BADWRX? or were you the navy recruiter? just asking if you knew a CPL. Michael Bratt out of Tracy area. he may be a sergeant now. if you see him he looks like he is 16yrs old. (he may be floating around the high schools because he still looks like a student) you can ask him because we were in the same team(s) for a while in the 82nd. tell that little bastard to call me/email me so we can hook up for a BBQ...he never has time because he's working 6 days a week. you know how it is.

Anyway, if you have any more questions just ask me. yes im only 21 and i joined at 17 but i knew my sh*t when it came to my job

But seriously... DO YOUR HOMEWORK and play your cards right. I'm not sure if you can do the "wish-list" thing as a pilot but if you can-- figure out where you want to be stationed based on unit, family, and recreation etc.

***Try doing a search or talk to someone about Ft.Polk, LA. Granted it's a older/crappy post and the nearest city is New Orleans (i think it's 2.5 hrs away) but you could be attached with 509infantry and be a "bad-guy" (OPFOR) for the JRTC rotation and even fly a Hind D Mi24 gunship!!!. everyone goes their to play (infantry, mechs, artillery, SEAL, SF, CCT's, Recon, Rangers you name it!) I remember my team got compromised by a Hind-D their and we ran and played hide and seek for about 6miles until we could get a clear shot at it with a Javeline. Damn Hind-D was so silent coming over those trees...when i saw it i about S**T myself. My buddy and I "shot-down" the Hind-D (every object and person had MILES gear on (multiple intergrated laser engagement system) kinda like government style laser tag. Him and I both got Impact Army Comendation Medals for it. So if you play their you could walk out with a Salad Bowl on your "A's"

Just remember that the men in the field are damn tired SO GO HARD ON THEM IF YOU GO THERE HAHAHA. I had a guy talking gibberish because we were up for 100+ hours (we kept getting shot at and Opfor had more people than we did so they just rotated their men and slept/rested). Damn guy was delerious. he would talk about dogs and cats and the weather then pass out standing. LOL

Glad i could help.
ERIC.
