The protest at fruitvale was indeed peaceful. No fights, no breaking of ****, and certinally was not going dumb by any means. There was one point and only ONE when a few people were cussing at the bart officails after they brought down the gate. That was hushed though by others though.
Now the march down e14th, that's another story. You had 90% of the people there to VOCALIZE and Communicate, not fight. The other 10%, or less, were just there for the fact of causing issues and going wild. It was fine until they hit down town and that's when a few people decided to be stupid and others followed that stupidity.
You would have to actually be there to understand how 90% of the crowd was NOT down with the violence or having OUR CITY destroyed, other peoples property destroyed, and it was NOT the message we wanted to go out. Trust me, for every one person breaking a window 15 were not for it.
So comes the point when everyone broke off. A lot people stuck around just to watch this **** unfold. It's not every day you get to see people running around breaking **** in Downtown, so a lot of people took the "reporter" route taking photos and what not. Others took the "omg this is a movie route" and watched as well. And the majority of us said **** this, lets bounce. After all OPD was ready to control this situation and I wasn't about to be beat up over someone stupid actions, no thanks.
There was several times where people tried to stop others and did. However when tensions boil over and people get waaaaaay too excited, sometimes you can't do much but step back.
Anyhow, the protest at the bart station was good in my books. I was there I know what was up. The march started off good but slowly fell out thanks to a few people who wanted to go dumb..

if cop tries to do anything at the moment, just let them. remember the detail, talk to them, try to tell them what is happening. if they don't listen, then just wait til you see your lawyer and see the cop in court.
that way would be much safer for both the cop, and the citizens.

Actually they are a lot closer related than anyone might expect;
http://www.ims-security.com/government_training.htm
Seems an Israeli "counter terrorist" consulting company has been training BART cops.
I would also venture a guess that this 2 year veteran of the bart police force probably came back from one of our overseas adventures before being handed a gun and going to work on bart.

If not, I think you might want to apologize.
If there's a connection with IMS-provided training, why aren't the Cal Berkeley cops smoking more students?
