An Iraqi Army unit ready to control its turf

On the edge of the Sunni triangle, Iraqis took the lead on security, and violence dropped.

Im lmao because I checked out their link to WMDs. Saw Iran and N Korea on their list with a multitude of articles. Iraq -- like their supposed WMDs -- was nowhere to be seen.

One unit controls their turf so the war is not a quagmire? You ever take statistics??

"We have achieved irreversible momentum," Cloutier says. "This area will not go back to the way it was."

the US commander says. "I can't speak outside my sandbox. But to different degrees, you have the same things happening all over Iraq."

Lies, damn lies and statistics

And he shouldnt.

You can blow the horn of our hawkish administration all you want... we opened up Pandora's Box and there is no going back. We will be dealing with this situation for a long time.

You mean the ones that are making our economy boom again? It worked by all accounts but the irrelevant ones

Oh, do you mean the ones that prevented additional oil refineries from being built, or the ones that have made us increasingly dependent on foreign oil drilling? I assume it's ok if we pollute elsewhere, right?

So our de-balled military and post dot-com economy didn't need the money generated by the war on terror? If we stopped all the rediculous social services we could trim the deficit drastically. Where do you want to trim?

Does this mean you are overwheight? Ab-envy?

so you just admited that the war was to secure oil rights?

could have sworn up and down you were fighting me on that very issue over the last few years..

nice to see the truth finaly leaked out of your dense cranium, now if only we could get you to drop the whole "bush is the bestest evar" tune and spew teh truth, not ****ing gay *** talking points

That's not why we went to Korea, plus my statement was a result of his defintion of what a quagmire is. As for economic influence ...you are the one talking about the war for oil crock all the time.

help me to understand your own definition:

was Vietnam a quagmire?

And btw, prolonged occupation is not inherent in defining "quagmire" (as your post about Korean occupation insinuates). Instead, prolonged, unsuccessful occupation is inherent in defining the word.

Neither one of us can be right in this particular situation. We will only truly know if it is indeed a quagmire until after the occupation extends for a prolonged period of time.
