This is conjecture. And btw, discourse is meant to throw ideas around. If you think you are always right, congratulations. You get two stars by your name

There's been a few occasions when I've admitted defeat due to factual information, statistics and/or a convincing argument. If my RNC protest theory is proven false I’ll paypal you a 12case of beer, okay!?
I've said "point taken" or agreed with psoper, constellation and even you in a couple threads so you're wrong again!
Btw... this is your 4th post in this "pretty silly thread"

Did anyone hear the Bush twins get booed, or are you just taking the news for gospel? Just wondering.

I am sick and tired of hearing of who celebrities are voting for and I really hate when they use their time accepting awards and such to ramble about politics and why we shouldn't vote for this person or that.

You could hear it but it was much less than the other two. The bushys were taped and could be turned up over the airwaves wheras the Kerry 2 were live mic which was also picking up the crowd in the theatre. As much as you'd wouldn't like to believe it Hella they were getting booed.

If you don't think politics should be involved in rock music, and pop culture in general (by pop I don't mean crappy music, I mean rock+hiphop+iPods+WRXs+whateverybodygenerallylikes nowadays), you are not a patriotic American (and you're probably a republican). Politics is supposed to be a part of every aspect of our lives, but that scares republicans because they know that if everybody in the country voted there is NO WAY any republicans would get into office. In a democracy, it's not that everyone has the right to vote and be political, it's that everyone has an OBLIGATION to vote and be political. Rock stars and MTV being politisized means that more young people now are paying attention to politics, and that can only mean good things (because, like I implied before, if everyone votes then the system will represent what most people want). I cannot think of any aspect of life that is not affected by politics, so why shouldn't every aspect of life in turn affect politics.

I don't agree with Dre, psoper, constellation and dub2w 95% of the time but I respect their views as ‘patriotic’ because we're civil Americans capable of rational thought despite our views & differences.

Forget the suicide rate in Alaska on a cold, dark afternoon! Imagine the increase if everything had a political message.
I like to think of my music as "unspoiled" and "pure"... like the Olympic Games which represent the spirit of competition and athletic skill, not politics, boundaries and borders. I want to be able to play my old Pearl Jam cd's (before they sucked) and remember the early 90's. Instead, I can't stand to hear on lyric that's to Eddy Vedder's sharp tongue on stage.
I don't care if it's an artist bashing Kerry -or- The Dixie Chick's Natalie Maines bashing Bush, politics with music is unprofessional, shallow, unnecessary, depreciative and tasteless.

I can appreciate that point; I suppose it's good to have a safe-haven from politics in some aspect of life. But so much of music is political anyway, lyrically I mean. Old Cream songs, the Who, and many more sang about politics...do you think that's wrong too? Or just they shouldn't be political when they're not making music...
