HELP! Tein Flex question!!!

Okay here's the situation, I crashed mu 2005 WRX, but I was able to pull off my almost brand new Tein Flex's which sustained no damage at all, unfortunately the rest of the car, not so lucky. I was able to pick up a 2005 STI, so I tried putting on the Flex's from my WRX on, and started with the left front. Upon inspection, the lower part of the strut where the two bolts secure it to the car will not fit over the metal piece. Am I just doing it wrong, or will it not fit because it was from my WRX? I thought the part numbers were the same, and visually the parts that are involved look identical. Anyone have this problem, or have experience with this type of situation? Should I just force it in?

Thanks for the help hommies!!!
