DIY spring installation?

Anyone ever done this? Ive had some springs sitting in a box in my room for like 3 months now and its starting to **** me off. How hard is it to install your own springs? Ive heard from some people that its difficult but others say its fairly easy.Any feedback would be appreciated.

taking out the struts will be easy. i'd recommend taking those struts to a shop to install new springs, they'll charge $100 or so.
to do it yourself, you'll spring compressors (you can do without but its a pain in the *** as you'll be pressing the spring down with your whole body while trying to screw in a nut).
as you take the car apart, its pretty straight forward, just have the right tools for it.

Yup it is fairly easy to install the springs on to your car, i just recently installed Tein S-spec springs for a WRX on my car, my car is an 07 2.5i Impreza. It is cheaper doing it yourself, just make sure that when you remove the front struts, the camber markings are back to its original location. completion time 2 and half hours.

I just recently did this on MY03 sedan.....took me a full weekend (off and on) with hand tools and no lift. I installed a few things incorrectly and found additional noises sometime during the week. Next weekend, I uninstalled everything to check it all out. Took me less than a day the 2nd time because I knew everything to use, what to do and what not to do. There are a lot of decent write ups on the subject. Just be sure that if you try and tackle it, you WILL need a spring compressor (I thought I wouldnt need it, all to find out I definitely did), and you may need to rig something for the tophat nut (I used a socket with duct tape wrapped around a couple times held by vice grips and used an allen wrench for the hex portion). Just take your time, and make sure you re-install everything the way it came off. Good luck!

i know that 98% of the people who work on their own car knows this, but ill just throw it out there anyway...

DO NOT lean over the tophat while you impact the top nut off if you have not compressed your factory springs! some dumbf-k did this at a tech day once and nearly took his own head off..literally! In fact don't touch the top nut unless the springs are securely compressed.

I second taking it to a shop and have them swap the springs over. it will save you a lot of cussing and angry ranting.
