'98 Forester with overheat issues!?!
we just bought a used 1998 forester from a subaru dealer (no warranty) less than 6 months ago & everything was rosy until 1 month ago.......first an overheat & had to have the water pump replaced, head gaskets and everything else along with it & they did the timing belt while they were in there.
Then an oil leak - found that a seal they had replaced was faulty, so the garage remedied that at no cost. And the overheat is still recurring - the garage THINKS it is a cracked cylinder (we seem to be losing coolant out of the radiator even when the reservoir appears full)!!
Looking through the posts on the forums it seems that this is not an uncommon problem with Subarus - much to my dismay
i have to admit that my knowledge of car mechanics is pretty darn slim, and we really don't know if we should get this sorted & keep the car, or just admit that the car is a lemon and get rid of it (sucking up some loss)!
any thoughts much appreciated!!!
thanks!
p.s. did anyone who has experienced similar problems ever manage to get any compensation from Surbaru or their dealer??
