i am going to purchase a 2003 WRX in a few weeks and was wondering what options should i get when i buy it. was thinking of guages,short throw shifter, sti shift ****, armrest, speaker upgrade and tranny protector. any other suggestions? anything will help thanx...

 

i just got my 2.5RS a couple of weeks ago. mine is mostly the bare minimum, but it did come w/ the fog lights. they really make the ground in front of you (w/in 10 or so feet) much brighter. i have the "regular" sound system and it sucks IMO so u might wanna get the upgrade. the other stuff, i couldn't really tell ya. sorry!

 

just got the 03 wrx and I would agree the short shifter is great it makes the car so fun to drive. my other opts. are the spoiler.

 

I personally think a lot of the options are overpriced. I would definitely recommend the spoiler, but you should be able to get better looking, more accurate gauges (mounted on the A-pillar) aftermarket for a similar price as dealer, and you might be able to find a short shifter after market for better than the dealer price.

I'm getting a 03 WRX soon also and I was gonna go with the Air Filtration based on where I live since I'm in the hot desert, also a spoiler on the rear deck because I think it looks better and also a upgrade in security and speakers, Are you sure they have the option of a tranny protector, I thought it was only a rear diff guard as an option for protection?> E

 

yeah those sound like sweet options to get and ur right the tranny protector is an option but i think its only sensable if ur going to rally ur ride. any suggestion on if its practical for street use??

 

I would stay away from the STi shift ****, personally. A car I was valeting had it, and I couldn't stand it even for the couple of minutes I was in the car. VERY uncomfortable. I couldn't imagine living with it day to day.
