birthgivers want me to get a rollcage cause there worried should i get Cusco?

lol, yes my parents want me to get a roll cage of somesort before i do ANY more performance mods. my dad says hes worried im going to go to fast on some of the backroads we go on all the time and he doesnt want me like dieing. SO should i get a Cusco cage? or will the cusco bolt in even help save me if for some reason i do crash which i hope to god i dont? oh yes they offered to buy it for me because its for my safety so i wont have to pay for it. i dont really want one but they say they wont let me get any more performance mods till i do something about the safety, atleast for now. I was thinking it might be kinda gh3y to have one in my car that only has a catless exhaust for performance mods. it does have some suspension and rims and **** so its not stock but yea. What do you guys think? what should i do in my case?

Your chance of serious injury and/or death increases greatly when running a roll cage on a daily driven car.

I would not use the Cusco bolt in unit if your main concern is safety.

Umm...

Just tell them if they are REALLY concerned for your safety, send you here:

I'd rather see you get taught how to AVOID getting in the wreck in the first place, rather than surviving a wreck "when" you do. If your parents would agree...

Have them read this: http://www.autoshop-online.com/cchtm...olve.teen.html

Show this website to your parents. I vote no on the roll cage.

I know how to get them off the idea of a rollcage, tell them this guy has to make it for you, and once they find out how much its gonna cost, lol!!!

Bolt in cages are a joke. If you want to be safe, get a real weld-in cage...

as was said, a lot of the bolt in cages are death traps, if you want a cage for safety you need to get a custom built one. I had a very well made cage in my 280z(with a blown chevy 350 transplant). I tagged a tree head on(slid off of the road on highway 9), I spun around the tree and ended up hitting the drivers door on another tree. I was probably doing about 75 and walked away with a broken wrist, two broken thumbs(never wrap your thumbs around the wheel, as I learned at skip barber afterwards) and I had a sore neck for about a week. The car was abolutely totalled, the motor snapped all of the mounts and buckeld the tranny, the tranny was pushed up against the tranny loop(part of any good roll cage, if it wasn't for the tranny loop the motor probably would have gotten pushed back and would have been sitting on my lap), and the drivers door was perfectly molded to the roll cage(meaning without the cage the door would have been crushed in towards me) The thing that saved me were racing buckets with a 5 point harness, and I actually had 4 of the 5 points on(never did like the crotch belt). Going off the side of the hill at 75 and walking away with a few minoir broken bones is pretty good in my book. You'll want to look into some performance enhancing mods also because a cage adds a few hundred pounds(my Z was putting about 600hp to the ground so it wasn't that much of an issue)

I also agree with going to a driving school. I've gone to two different skip barber classes and I learned SOOOoo much at one of them. They give you some very good techniques that you can use on the track or daily driving. I've avoided several accidents using their techniques.
