so I didnt' drive my 02 wrx for like a week. this morning i was backing it out of the garage, and there was this weird loud clank as i first accelerated in reverse...

anybody else ever experience this? cause for concern???

 

I notice little sounds from 0-10mph and from 15-0mph. they are clanking sounds. i never figured it out. is that the same sounds you two are experiencing?

 

It's normal, the ABS is doing a self test diagnostic.

 

Peaty, it happends every time though. (when going from 0-10 and 15-0mph)

you can count on it making the noise everytime.

 

Everytime you back out of the garage or every time you go at those speeds? The ABS self test only happens when you first start the car and move.

If it's everytime as you say I wonder if it's excessive driveline lash. Do you have nat mods?

 

only mods are whiteline rear sway bar and 98rs wheels. Same size as stock.

 

If I remember right some people have had a clunk w/ the whitline bar. Apparently the bolts are a little small for the hole in the bar and tend to be noisy. Search Whiteline and clunk on the other I club I think there was a thread about it.
