Brake Pad Clank (help, please)

I recently installed some Hawk brake pads on my 05 sti according to the hspn video guide (awesome how-to video). Anyways, everything went fine, but i noticed that when i go in reverse for a bit, then brake, the pads click like they're sliding back and clanking against the inside of the caliper. Then if i brake while driving forward again, they will slide forward and clank against the front side of the inside of the calipers. After that, its cool, but everytime i go in reverse and brake, the same thing happens.

Anyone know how to keep the pads in place so they're not sliding back'n'forth?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have the same thing happening with my car..from what i read this is normal. when your reversing the pad angle a certain way, and when you go forward again they reangle themselves for forward braking, if im correct. I was hearing the same noise even before i changed to aftermarket pads. hope this helps.

Thanks, Jeff.

So I guess you just have to deal with the sound? I can deal with it as long as I know I'm not damaging my brakes/rotors everytime I go in reverse/forward again.

Did you find a fix? Or do you just kinda deal with it?

Thanks guys,

I can deal with the noise as long as know i'm not slowly destroying my calipers. Do you happen to know of any pads that definately DONT make this noise so I can try them next time?

Its a problem on several pads, but Hawks are particularly known for it. You dont have to worry about hurting anything. I put about as much of a beating on mine as possible.

Great pads to go with next time are Pagid or Ferroda
