can someone help me please and let me know what this means, ive been driving to work on the freeway daily, and every time i see my tach were it shows my miles trip A an B under my trip A it sometimes changes and says ILL.5 or S i dont know if its an engine code? or what its trying to tell me, maybe someone can help me out, i took a picture of it happening today.

 

That is the illumination (brightness) of the dash - you can adjust it from 1 to 5 by rotating the left stalk (at least thats how the 04 STi is adjusted).

Not sure why its coming on intermittently for you, maybe the connection on the stalk is loose/sensitive.
