Alright I have a 97 legacy outback limited with the 2.5l, i have lots of stuff planned but first need to make sure my engine is alright. When i bought it i was told the knocking when it was started was a common subaru thing, i had heard the same from a couple other people so i went with it and bought it. So here is the when i start it cold in the morning i get a fairly loud knock almost as much a a diesel it goes away completely after it is warmed up what is going on?

it's loud but sounds like a subaru to me...
