WRX is an expensive car to learn on. Borrow someones honda and rip apart their transmission first

I know im a little late in the conversation here, but I just wanted to say something about the awd. I dont know about the 5mt ( i have the 4eat) but i can feel it when it transfers more power to the front tires. When I drive hiway 17 ( a fun tight twisty road form santa cruz through the hills to get to san jose) and push it hard in the corners, the front end will feel a little loose then within a second or so the front will grab nice and tight. Its kinda cool. Wondering if anyone else notices.

You're right. In the auto there is more power to the front wheels under normal driving. The car will adjust the power more to the back if its needed there.

I'm not sure about the numbers with the WRX, but on a plain impreza the auto has something like 90% front and 10% back under normal driving. And I think the manual has a 50/50 split. In both cases the power is shifted when needed.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Nope. I'm quite sure its the other way around on the auto. Now the Porsche 911 Turbo is 90 rear and 10 front

The WRX manual I'm not sure on. Although I am sure that is either 50/50 or a little more predominately rear. For example, the GT model of the Legacy manual is 65 rear and 35 front.
