Taking off from a stop light like a normal person, you will not feel more than a second or two of lag. If you want a "hot" start, put up 2-3K rpm and get the clutch out as fast as the car will take it. When your revs get back to 3K, be prepared to hold on tight, as the rocket just got ignited. Watch the tach, as 7K comes up quick, and you will hit the rev limiter (which feels weird and you lose steam). I like to upshift between 6-6.5K rpm. Also, you learn to anticipate more: coming to a turn, be in a gear that keeps rpms over 3K and you'l beat just about anything getting around. The FWD is also a big help. Side benefit: you have to really work to get wheel spin! No spin means all traction. Big black streaks make smoke and noise, but don't make you go- it's a big loss of power.

My test drive of my 02 WRX was after trying Miata, Mitsu spyder, Toyata something, etc., etc. The WRX was clearly the winner! Wait for the 04, but get one!

It may be that I own an '03 and so it makes me biased but I don't like the '04 as much... it took me a while for the hood scoop on the '04's to grow on me, I thought they looked like a goofy overbite at first. Which one do you think you're gonna go with Necros? Oh, and I replied to your PM a couple of days ago

my brain hurts...how is the STi hard to mod? buy a rex and spend the extra $ in mods-only if money is going to be an issue for modding the STi
