how much hp? tork?
how much hp can this engine produce, if i had bored out my 2.5 to 2.8 and turboed it, how far could it realisticaly reach, 1000hp 900hp 800 hp? i know it sounds knida silly but i am curious, what could this 4cylinder produce.. even twin turboing it, no nitrous though, because it is not something that would be there the whole time, just mechanical power.

How much money do you want to spend? With enough time and money, anything is possible.
As for Subaru's H6, it was designed to fit in the same space as the 2.5 liter H4 and is only half an inch longer, front to back. One of the ways they accomplished this was by creating thinner cylinder walls which would not hold up as well to the extra heat and stress of a high boost engine. The EJ20 was designed to hold boost and is a relatively old design, so there has been a lot of after market trial and error (R&D) done. Additionally, the fact that turbo charged WRC are restricted to 2.0 liters means that a lot of manufacturer development has been done as well.

so it is possible to put a h6 in an impreza. that is pretty cool, na is the best way to go, if a company could make a 300hp 4cylinder 2L with no turbo they would.

Think of this way. In 1983(if memory serves) BMW entered into the formula one arena. That year they allowed for the use of turbcharged engines. BMW used the factory block from the 3 series of the time and broke the dyno when they first tested it. When they finally found a dyno that could measure its horsepower it reached somewhere around 1200hp. So really there is no limit as to what you can get out of a four cylinder if you turbo it. The sky is the limit.
