Exhaust Got Quieter - Am I crazy?

Hey everyone,

So this is my first Subie as well as my first time really modding a car so bear with me.

I put a prodrive exhaust on the car about a month ago and it was just the right amount of loud and rumble.

Then today as I was heading out I noticed how quiet it was and my first reaction was "who stole my exhaust??". After realizing how incredibly unlikely that was I started to go through a list of possible issues in my head.

My friend said i'm being silly and i just got 'used to it', but I swear to god its quieter now. It's not stock quiet, but its def not as throaty as it was before.

Car still pulls like it always does and nothing really seems out of the ordinary, just the volume.

Not sure if this is a indication of some sort of leak. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!

Your hearing went downhill, hence the perceived softness. Though you probably just got used to it.

Definitely just getting used to it. It was pretty similar for me when I threw on a catless TBE. First month or so I really heard the difference, now I sometimes forget, then I hear my exhaust leak and I'm reminded lol.

Muffler bearing could be going out. I knew a friend and his cousin had a brother who said his went out and his car went really quiet.

had the same problem before and it definitely was the muffler bearings... the crappy part is that you need a special tool to change it out... i mean you could probably MacGuver it out with your basic standard tools but I had to special order a Left Handed screw driver to move the bearings.

Thanks for the tips! I'm assuming they sell these muffler bearings next to the blinker fluids?
