Yes, Yes-- everyone is making valid points on the tech specs and price comparisons but there is a huge factor that everyone is forgetting-- No matter how much cash you drop into a WRX, it's still going to have the resale value of a WRX. All the mods you spend money on is basically going down the drain on top of the normal depreciation of the vehicle.

To me, it doesn't make financial sense to drop $7k on a $20k car and then lose all of it when i have to sell.

agreed. no warranty no resale value. why wrx over sti, if you ahve the money? makes no sense at all.

I've got an '02 WRX, slightly lowered with 17" wheels and good tires. It's a fabulous car (except for the DEFECTIVE transmission).

It's more than enough performance for the mere mortal.

(but I might still get an Evo or STi...)

Don't get an EVO VIII the I hear the Tranys are crap. But the STi 6-speed on the other hand is SUPER, no griding, shutter or 1st or reverse problems!!!

The one thing I HATED

about my WRX was the 5-speed!

Well thanks everyone for the input, but now you got me thinking too damn hard! I really can't stand th ground effects on the STi though, is it relatively easy to take it off? I'm still going more towards a WRX, but you guys have gotten me to think it throughly a little bit more.

That is my biggest pet peve! I can't stand when you see these little piece of crap rice rockets running around that have type R stickers on them. That's the same concept as putting a V8 GT emblem on a V6 car. And what is the point of announcing to the public with emblems how fast your car is? Sleepers are the way to go.

I just got the only one that might reach the Charlesto,s.c area. I have not one complaint. Its everything and more than you need in a car.........and very quick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
