Well I have yet to find a price for the thing. But it did win bets buy award for 2002 from "auto sound" a japanese high end audio publication. And it's not all about the specs. I challenge anyone to find something in the same style; simple and elegant. It's hard to come by. That's the style I'm looking for and I'll pay a little more to get it too.

I was looking up some info on that Denon unit and I came across an atricle with this
"Suggested retail for the CDT-Z1 is $2,500." WOW here is the link for the article.

2500!
Man! Maybe I'll go for that model down for 1200.00 I just love that style. Whats' the difference between a CD/tuner and CD reciever.
oh yeah what about these speakers as an alternative to Boston Acoustics Z5 series: Rainbow 2-way platinum series http://www.rainbow-car-audio.com/home/ or Image Dynamics --- Chameleon seperates.http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/webs...chameleon.html
For amps there is: Xtant, Audison, Zapco, and Arc Audio? I think these are all high end amps...

i agree that i absolutly love the style of that denon, looks similar to clarions (year 2001?) top of the line model, but is much simpler looking. simple is better when it comes to that deck

Esso,
I have some Denon products within my home & work A/V equipment and find them to be worth the coin.
What's special or unique about the unit you pinted out?
At $2500 I could buy a 50" flatscreen LCD from BestBuy.
Thats a lot of coin but its probaly worth it if I know Denon.
Thanks,
- Janq

well, it is in fact the best deck on the market and has sound quality better than DVD sound (says the article) and so say the few audio salespeople I've spoken too, even the ones that don't carry it which is 99.9% told me it was the best. read about it at http://www.redmountainaudio.com
I certainly am not going to get it but I LOVE that style. I also plan on driving down to Pennsylvania to get my car audio done. Why? It's 5 hours away which means it will be a nice road trip there and back to break in the engine, I have relatives there I can visit, and I will save HUGE on the state's sales tax of only 6%. In Canada you have to pay 15%!! When it's all done I drive to the border and pay no duty tax either, " do you have anythign to declare?"
"nope" and drive away with a new sound system installed! I'll save $550.00 doing it this way. Gas will cost me $100.00 I figure.
Or I could go to New hampshire and stay in a hotel where there is 0% sales tax!!

Go to Vermont, New Hampshire or Delaware and you're good to go. Or you could come to good ole' Virginia and visit good ol' Janq and let him drool all over your rims to clear up and road grime and brake dust.

lol. by then, I think you'll have your own car to drool over, STi or G35.
hey, by the way, I just read that whole thread by mach5 and his new STi and I have to say, I'm kind of in agreement with agent2.8. He was rude but the answers provided to your questions ( which were excellent ) were in in my opinion, "vague and uninformative". I appreciate the fact that he tried to answer them but they were kind of lame. Oh well, whad'ya gonna do?

But what really bugged me though was the dog gone attitude, totally uncool being he invited folks to ask questions. Plus, I had been a good boy these past few weeks and purposefully tried not to be my normal smart *** and just kept it straight.
Maybe he's a cool guy IRL but in my case I wasn't feeling him and I'm tired of being hated on for asking questions that might not be 'popular'.
Anyway, as you mentioned earlier hopefully some other owner(s) will step to the plate and offer up some more detailed information other than that 'the STi is fast and is really really cool'. <yawn>
