The Mach5 - v 2.0
Internals of STI wow!
The adjustable valve timing is just a computer controled cam phasing.
Like the mechanisim in small general aviation aircraft to adjust propeler pitch.
The unit is fitted where the cam gear normaly would be and is actuated by oil pressure through a solenoid controled by the ecu.
The dely by retard in cam phasing holds the valve open for longer periods acting like it has a longer duration.
It is also fitted for a fail safe.
It will act like a regular cam if it fails.
The 6speed mt is designed to feel notchy because of the detents.
It was so that "the driver can feel the shift" as stated in the mechanics oriantation book.
The transmission has its own oil pump and a fail safe.
If it senses an over heat problem with the oil in the rear diff etc.
it will bias the power output to the front drivtrain and vise versa.
The lateral g sensors work with the abs sensors and electronic throttal. DCCD will dissenage rear wheels if the e-brake is pulled
in manual as well as in auto mode.
The intercooler sprayer is also controled by the ecu already.
They thought of everything in this car!

****UPDATE****
I got under the STi today. It looks like all the current WRX cat-back exhausts will fit the STi. The STi exhaust looks like the stock WRX exhaust w/ an STi bling tip. Now all we need is a good down-pipe!
woo WOOOO!
More info will come as I have time.

Out of complete selfishness, I make this offer.
I'm off the island from 29 MAY until early to mid AUG. Where I'll be there will more than likely be no STI's (out in the woods near West Point, NY teaching cadets).
If you put the miles on today, I'll come over tonight to help you change the oil so you can AutoX it tomorrow and I can see how she fares.
Only 150 miles left
Pat,
Didn't quite make it, plus I actually want to drive my wagon one last time.
I think there will be at least one STi there in the morning though.
Thanks for the offer on the oil change.

The title of best is a tie between 'Transformers' (original '80's vintage) & 'RoboTech'. Second place would be a tie between SpeedRacer and 'Johnny Quest' (original circa late '70's).
Coming up the rear in a very close third would be wildly popular for its time 'Starblazers' (circa '70's Japanime) with the live action cartoon 'Kroft Superstars' including the dyanamic duo of 'Electro-Woman & DynaGirl' & 'H.R. Puffenstuff' in fourth with 'G.I Joe' (original '90's vintage) pulling up the rear in a not too sloppy fifth.
They just don't make entertainment like that anymore!
