I have been following up this thread from the beginning.
I totally think there's not a problem for a teenager owning an sti(whether it's his money or his parents').

However just to summarize my observation, the majority of the teens who responded basically are saying the same thing: "I am young but I drive better than many others. All you 'mature' guys are saying the right thing but I believe I am above that level so no need to worry about me."

Think I am wrong? Take some time and do a review on the posts.

I may be wrong but I think those teens with good enough confidence in their skills(seasoned with real experience) to master an sti will not even care to respond to critiques on this thread. (think about it, if I say you're not grown enough to walk a straight line with your two legs, do you even care to rebuke?)

well, again, the topic is about how teenagers think. it's not about whether or not they can drive or not or how much experience they have behind the wheel. it doesn't matter. anybody can "drive" anything. hell, a 13 year old can drive an automatic car right now, but the question is, is he/she mature enough to know the rights and wrongs about driving or better, that a car is worse than a gun, that it can kill or injure many people if not in the right hands. this is the question. not how much experience you have or can you handle the power of the STi or any powerful car. i think the topic is getting changed. there is a time and a place for racing and many times it's not on a highway or at a streetlight. now, who do you think will be more mature to realize this, young teenagers, whom on the majority are out to show peers that they have something between their legs, or adults, who are past all the bulls&#t and don't even care what others think, and knowing that pride comes from the fact that i pay for my car and work for a living, and the only challenge is on the track. i tell you something, knowing that there is a time and a place is the thing that keeps my driving record clean and my a$$ out of jail.

And plus who ever started this thread, what is your point, are telling everyone that u are jealous cause other people are more wealthy and able to get an STI. I am getting an STI too, so what I am not a professional driving or what so ever, but I am a subaru lover for more than 8 years. Lastly, when u have the money of course u would prefer getting the toppest model if it is affordable. There you go there is nothing wrong with anyone owning a STI, if your want to start this topic maybe u should go to a porche site and post this thread.........
Why is it about jealousy? The point is (if you read the whole thread)

1.) You should be mature mentally and physically to drive an Sti. It is not like driving a beater car, a teg, or a civic. It is a "cheaper car", but the performance rivals that of cars almost 10,000 bucks more, like BMers and the like. Also, read the post (in this forum) about the guy who had a friend who bought the 300ZX TT in HS at 16, modded it to 540hp and got killed when he wrapped it around a tree. Lets leave it at that. I'll try to find the post if I can. Edit- If you can drive it properly, then good for you!

2.) Why are people that young spending the money they get (or earn) on something that they can get later, like a car.

Face it Mr Wong, if you are 17-18 years old, you are just getting out of HS. If you have a silver spoon in your mouth when you were born, or if you are an entrepeneur by sophomore year of HS, then KUDOS! Go guy the car you want! I am not gonna go barging into peoples houses and slap people on the hand.

For most 17-18 yr olds, they can't afford both. Every HSer I have known didn't have enough to buy a new car. If you have 35,000, it can go towards a car or a post HS education. I don't know about you, but I'd rather get an education. Why buy something that lasts 5 years (maybe) instead of buying something that gives you a brighter future (and better money)? I have mentioned time and time again that this is not about hatin' youngsters or being jealous of other people's wealth. This is asking the question of where are people's responsibilities going at that age? Is having a better future playing second fiddle to having a good present?

You drove around at the age of 14 without a license in an RX-7? You have just shown us how immature you are.

Lastly, I think that this thread has run its course.. Lock it please!

Tim
