Resonant Engineering Subwoofers
So I have decided to kick my mtx 8000's to the curb. I have been running two of them with a mtx 81000d amp. The amp is doing great but the subs aren't clean and powerfull enough for me. I am recently been looking at a line of subs built by a company called Resonant Engineering. I have looked around the internet for more sources about these subs, but I feel like I need more input before I make the purchase. I heard the XXX model kills the W7 in spl and sq. I have also been looking at maybe running 2 kicker solobaric L7's but i heard they arn't that clear. What are your thoughts on the mtx 9500 series sub. I heard that it is also very compareable to the W7.
Help me make a decision. please, please.

Thanks, I ran 12W6's for a couple months, but I just hated them. I blew 3 different sets of them. They just can't take very much power. But when it comes to W7's I hear it's a whole different story. I'll look into it but why doesn't anybody ever talk about resonant engineering subs, I hear they kill everything.
I'mm not sure why you don't hear more about R.E. subs, probably because JL has more marketing. One of the other big subs on the block now is the Pioneer 5000. I didn't hear one yet but they holkd the world record for spl. I heard the step below the 3000, and it was pretty loud.

So it's sounds like you know your stuff and I am quessing you have a pretty good system, so what route if any did you go on beefing up your power supply for the stereo. That sounds a little confusing but for example I went out got a optima red top and bought a dual battery isolator( haven't put it in) but the only true way to power a system with the size watts were talkin about here can end up costing more than the system. I been starting to hear alot about amps than run off of votage instead of amps. Do you think this is the avenue to follow or should I stick on building a system dependent of amps. Aa an example the Diamond amp line is run all on voltage.
you dont hear much about re audio because theyre bigger in canada.. not around the us as much until places import... but more like road trip a truck up there.
the XXX are very expensive and badass subs... clean and loud.
i 2 12" SX in my explorer before i got my suby. they were loud as **** and clean too. theyre rated 1000rms each but i ran 2 directed 1500d amps for about 500-600 rms each. if your blowing subs quickly like the w6 then theres something wrong. your running too much power to them even if theyre rated at whatever watts i would never run full efficiency on those or anything at all. or its not getting enough power due to the battery/alternator/capacitors.
jl audio is good... theyre considered a standard. but theres other stuff out there ie zapco/ earthquake/ rainbow/ re audio/ brahma. really the best thing to do is just think how much money u want to spend.. then research the different equipment to suit your needs.
u can get better than jl audio for the money. you spend $$ for the name too.

There is alot of factors when it come to car stereo's. The first is what do you want to accomplish? Do you want to get in to compations or just have a bad a$$ stereo? I used to work for Crutchfield, and I know I work at another car stereo/ accesory shop. I have a basic system kind of. I built custom door panels for Polk MOmo 6 1/2 components. I have 2 Momo 10's with Audiobahn amps. The reason I have what I have is because it was free. Sponsors gave me the equiptment. Everyone has there own thoughts on what equiptment is best. I have kids come in and say they have MA audio and it is the best thing ever. I'm sorry but it isn't, they buy iot from the flea market down the street. Jl is pricey, but good. Check out the local shops and see what they have, and look into a bigger alternator.
XXX's do kill W7's, get one of them or an Adire Audio brahma 15 (that's what i have) They will blow the pants of a W7 and sound cleaner while doing it. Also check out Ascendant audio's avalanches. All 3 of these subs use the same XBL^2 technology which keeps the sound the same no matter how much it's moving, the JL doesn't have that. oh, and btw they are way cheaper too. I know a lot about car stereo so IM me if you want any advice.
oh and another thing....amps that run on voltage only???? unless i've TOTALLY missed something that makes no sense, i think you got something confused. Can you post where you saw this? I'm an electrical engineering major from what i've learned (only a sophmore), if there's no amperage drawn there's no way power could possibly be made you need both and in a car the voltage is stuck at 12VDC. that's why amps must be huge to make the power. amps * volts = watts

resonant engineering is out to be one of the best companies out there.. everything they make from just the RE series to the MT's is both clean and loud... of cource your going to get less SPL with the RE series and less SQ with the MT's, but their whole line they have to offer kicks ***... i got involved with this company a while back when i competed before i got into subarus and i had my jeep grand cherokee.. i was into car audio , it was my life for about a year, i ended with a setup consisting of two planet audio FU-18... running off a hifonics amp Brutus 1500.... anyways i ended up competing with this setup and legally scoring a 150.6db at a USACI competition.... and i have delt with many RE subs, if your looking for extreme sound quality, go check out the RE8" subs... get 4 of those and your ready to go.. which im about to get in a little bit and work on a system....
