Rear Deck Rattling -- Fix with Dynomat?
I just put in two 8" Kicker CompVR (CVR8's) in my trunk. They sound awesome but I am getting rattling on the back deck lid. It seems that the brake light is rattling. I am sure that im not the only person who has had this happen -- wondering what kinds of things have been done to fix it.
I am thinking about getting some dynomat this weekend and applying it there, but then do I cover all of the metal, or completely seal up the rear deck lid? Will it even make a difference..
(I am aware that alot of people recomend Raamat, but I am going to hold off ordering that until I do my whole trunk and doors, right now I am looking for a quick fix).
This is driving me nuts
Please help..

applying it to your rear deck will help a lil bit. its gonig to be a little easier to do it from the trunk so you wont have to remove your rear seats and c-pillars. i would just cover the metal. you dont have to cover all the holes. while your at it apply some to your trunk lid and you shoud notice a difference.

i took the rear package tray out and put dynamat it under it. also check on the underside of the package tray there might besome foam cushions, sometime they come loose, reglue them you could also get some cotton batting from wal mart for about 4 bucks to put under it like the pollyfil they use for sub boxes. i redone my package tray with material it made it alot tigther. you could check it out on the 2nd page of my homepage. hope this helps. you could also get the original dynamat for about 25 bucks it is enough to do package tray.

i have an IASCA SQ comp system installed with TONS of Brown Bead installed (same as Dynamat Super). my deck still has a rattle around the 80-100Hz musical frequencies and also the rear seatbelt assemblies rattle too. i have to take it apart again to work out the rattles.
so i guess the awnser is yes and no in your case. it may get rid of your rattle completely and it may not at all. can't hurt to dynamat though.

I ended up fixing it by removing the rear deck (rear seats, deck, cpillars, etc) and putting in about 1.5" of "batting" material which is like a thick blanket in between the deck and the metal. After fitting it all properly and trimming things right, I put it back together and it looks stock -- not at all noticeable. It completely solved the problem, no matter how loud the bass gets.

Check and see if your box is touching that overhead beam thingy in your trunk. In my situation it would resonate and just nudging my box away from that beam stopped the rear deck from rattling.
I think i saw somewhere that someone said they took the tailight apart and that resolved the rattling issue. am i wrong? If this is right how do i take apart that light?
