Mb Quart Or Boston Z5?
Boston Zs all the way
The MB Qs sound good at low volume but at moderate and higher they cause fatigue. You can try and mess with EQ settings as well as the crossover but I feel that takes away from the true sound, takes a lot of time to get right, and changes with the type of music. I believe boston and MB sound very different.....and most audiophiles will swear by one and hate the other....it really comes down to your taste in sound, sensitivity of your ear, and what u listen to.
They are both great speakers but it really is up to you. I think if you havent decided yet you haven't spent enough time listening to both speakers. Grab you CD book and spend some "quality" time listening to them. Any true high end shop should be glad to let you do this because they "should" understand why you are.
Oh about my post subject.....I'm a little biased....I have Z6s in my STI and I love them....best set of components I've ever heard...even better than the old a/d/s components.

Re: Boston Zs all the way
Scary coincidence! I was in Tweeter and heard the $1300 Quart's right next to the $1000 Z6's. Not even close, the Z6's destroyed them. I thought I was listening to a home speaker where the Quart (to me!) sounded like a car speaker. A really good car speaker to be sure! The real telling point was when I asked the sales guy what he had in his car and he said that most of the guys in the chain (!) had bought Bostons, including him! For now, $1000 puts them safely out of reach.

I'll admit they are quite pricey....but if you try I'm sure you could work out a deal with someone...atleast in the neighborhood of $800....although thats still a lot of dough. It really comes down to how serious someone is about their sound....and will THEY make it worth it for themselves. Personally I belive Boston Pros are probably the best deal out there......$300-400 for great sounding speakers.....good enough for 95% of the people out there....
just don't listen to them side by side with the Zs.....in fact....don't listen to any speaker side by side with the Zs unless you're ready to spend the money...they'll hook you real good!!
