Sup fellas? I just redid the entire system in my 03 sonic yellow wrx sedan: Alpine 7897 deck, Focal 4" 165CA for the rear doors, 2 JL Audio 12W3 v2 D4's in a custom made sealed box, Kicker KX600.1 sub amp, and a Precision Power 40x4 speaker amp. We dynomatted the trunk and all doors (sick!) and ran zero gauge for the power line, 4 gauge for the amps and 18 gauge for the speakers. I had bought Focal 165K's for the front (6.5 components), but didn't realize that the mounting depth is only 1-3/4 inches, not to mention 5-1/4 speakers. Does anyone have anything that works w/o cutting up the doors? What speakers would fit and if I need spacers, what do you recommend?

Oh yeah and I'll just say this: never buy high end equipment from an unauthorized dealer...the alpine deck was shot after a few uses, definitely something internal and now i gotta wait 3 weeks to get it back...definitely a PITA, you know what I'm sayin? Spend a few extra bucks and get it locally so you know the box ain't thrown around....drop me a line about the speakers someone please either here or find me on IM @ Thabias! I got some customize wood spacers. I have 6.5 MB quarts in the front and the back. My doors are also dynomated and have no problems with rattleing.

 

Hey thanks Datwrx...you didn't have to cut the door grilles out did u? I don't want to have to mod them...I found out that replacement door panels from my dealer (in Long Island) start around $250...then again I don't plan on selling it, but the less work the better. I was going to pick up Infinity Kappa 6.5's and try using their provided spacers, I read some posts that said that that setup works well...
