dirt roads in socal?
Hmm....
Mayhap I will have to try again.
I tried to pick it up from the Encino Hills side. I wonder if the gate is open part of the time and closed others?
Oh well, if I get a chance, I'll try it from Topanga. Hopefully there are at least TWO open gates, or I guess I'll have to do it once each direction.
Thanks for the heads-up,
Mike

Too bad, as that was a good portion of the stage miles for both Rim and Gorman Ridge rallies.

That was an old favorite... if you're right, it's gonna be a long 5 years.
Hey pete,
You have an encyclopedic (sp) knowledge on california backroads... I'm contemplating a huge "desert loop": From near Coachella, I'd take the Bradshaw Trail out to near Blythe... then Midway road from Blythe to Rice (also noted as Blythe-Rice Rd on some maps)... then Cadiz road all the way to I-15. It would be about 200 miles of dusty dirt, but I know nothing about road conditions...
I don't suppose you do?
Just hopin'

Once you get to the other side of 40 you are pretty much outside my territory.
Let me know when you find out more though, that sounds like it would be a great adventure.
(A lot more of it than you expect might have been paved at one time or another.)

Damn...
I'm back up here in Santa Cruz, and I never got out on the trails.
What with all the Christmas stuff/Family, I didn't have a free day untill Monday, at which point I didn't want to risk flash-flooding out in the desert.
...So we drove home in the rain before the storm could close I-5.
Maybe next time...
Damn.

Thanks, Mr T
Of course now I'm not in LA anymore, so it'll have to wait.
Have you ever been up there?
Some folks have said that the road surface is pretty ragged (which is do big deal, really). Also, I'm wondering if as a driver you have to share the road with lots of bikes and walkers... don't want to plow into any civillians while comming around a corner...
thanks again for the mappage,
Mike
