Most of what I've heard about re-ground cams being hokey is that when the cam grinder is done with the job, it throws your valvetrain geometry off (i.e., how/where the cam contacts the rocker arm, rocker arm to valve, etc). My experience with correcting valvetrain problems all deal with old school cam-in-block engine designs (Chevy V-8, Corvair flat-6) so I don't know what will need to be done to make everything work properly in your engine. Ask the cam grinder, and if that doesn't work or you still have questions, ask a reputable engine builder or machine shop. I recommend asking questions first, then buying the parts based on whether you can live with the compromise.
